Nursery School Day

This is what a typical day looks like in our Nursery classrooms. It is important to note that there is a degree of flexibility as we always ensure that we are prioritising the needs and interests of the children.

7:30am – 8:30am	Early Bird session	Breakfast is available and children engage in free play before the Nursery Day starts.
8:30am	Nursery Day starts	Children arrive between 8:30am-8:50am and engage in free play alongside their classmates and teachers.
8:50am-9am	Good morning circle	The children come together as a group to sing hello, update the daily calendar, share songs and stories.
9am -10:15am	Explore time (indoor/outdoor) Focus activities Specialised classes Snack	The children continue exploring their classroom as well as engaging in an adult-led activity to support them in developing a particular skill. A specialised class eg dance may also take place.
10:15am-10:45am	Garden	All Nursery children play together in the large playground.
11am	Explore time (indoor/ outdoor) Focus activities Specialised classes	The children continue exploring their classroom as well as engaging in an adult-led activity to support them in developing a particular skill. A specialised class e g. dance may also take place.
11:45am	Lunch time	The Mini and Little Peris will have lunch in their classroom. The Big Peris have lunch in the lunch hall.
12:15pm – 13:30pm 12:30pm morning session ends	Sleep time, garden or home time	The younger pupils will have a sleep in our designated sleep room whilst all other Nursery children will play outside in the garden. Additionally, the children who are attending a half-day will go home.
13:30pm – 15:20pm	Good afternoon circle Explore time (indoor/ outdoor) Focus activities Specialised classes Afternoon snack	The children regroup to sing hello to one another before explore time. It is important to give the children the time and space to explore independently and with minimum disruptions, especially our younger pupils. The Mini and Little Peris have the afternoon to engage in free play alongside their classmates and teachers. A focus activity is incorporated within their free play. The Big Peris continue to have lots of opportunity to play but will also have an additional specialised lesson planned by the class teacher eg Science, Art or Forest School.
15:20pm – 15:30pm 15:30pm School Day ends	Story time	The children gather to listen to a story before the school day ends.
15:30pm – 18:00pm 15:45pm-16:30pm	Sundowners including supper time Activity Clubs available	The children engage in free play both indoors and outdoors. A light supper is served for children at 5pm. There is a range of activity clubs available for the Nursery pupils including Ballet and Street Dance.
